Wayne Washington began coaching at a young age. At 18, he landed his first coaching opportunity at the Rochester Boys and Girls club coaching basketball. Wayne gained experience during his high school years at Charlotte High School, where he played two years on the varsity team and was a member of 1983 New York State Championship Basketball Team (26-2 record).

After high school, Wayne turned his focus towards track and field where he started an outstanding track career as an athlete and coach. Wayne coached and competed in track and field meets that ranged from AAU competition to Olympic Trials Qualifier meets. Wayne’s track expertise landed Wayne an opportunity to help train athletes that were preparing for the NBA draft.

After moving from New York to California, Wayne found himself back in the basketball arena. After attending a ABL (women’s basketball league) combine as an agent for one athlete, Wayne ended up signing 17 other athletes. After many years in California, Wayne ended up in Fayetteville, NC where he now co-owns a sports bar and grill and works as a bails bondman. In 2009 Wayne coached the semi-professional Fayetteville Shooting Stars.

Wayne now has his sights on taking his new team, the Carolina Cougarz to a new level of basketball. Family is very important to Wayne. Wayne is the proud father of five kids and one grandchild. Nikia is a graduate of Monroe CC, Rochester, NY with a degree in Visual Communications, Nyiesha is in her junior year at The University of Buffalo.(NY). Wayne is in his second year at Hudson Valley CC, in Troy, NY where he is a member of the Men’s Basketball Team. His youngest two; Tysheen who competes on the swim team, plays on the tennis team and as also played football. Four year old Christian is already gearing up to step on the court.
