Wildcats Crowned Champions

The Savannah Wildcats are the first Continental Basketball League Champions of 2010!!!
The Savannah Wildcats faced off against the Wilmington Sea Dawgs in the CBL Championship Game earlier this afternoon. The game lasted into overtime with a final score of 96 - 86. The end of regulation resulted in a score of 83 – 83.COUGARZ TAKE ON FIRST PLACE WILMINGTON
The Cougarz will be in action tonight as they take on the first place Sea Dawgs at 7pm at Methodist University. With a win tonight and a victory by the Fuller Allstars who travel to Savannah tonight to take on the Wildcats, the Cougarz can move into a first place tie.
The Cougarz will be lead by former Johnson C Smith player, Captain Marco Spears and former UNC Pembroke player Co- Captain Jonathan Hart. In last weeks game against Fuller both Spears and Hart brought the fans to their feet with a number of show stopping dunks. Coach Washingtons says " both of these guys have been with me since day one and have never complained about anything, they just work hard and play harder".
We have been through so many things this year and because of that it has made us a better team in so many ways. I think we have the most talent of any team in the CBL and in most cases that could be a bad thing, our coaching staff is trying to teach these guys that when you leave your ego on the outside and put your team first there is nothing you can't do.
Assistant Coach Bakari Willams has been a big plus for our Staff says Washington, once the guys gave him a chance and started to trust him it took a load off of me. Williams in his first year of coaching has done a great job and his calm style of coaching helps to teach the guys how to be composed.
Tonight the cougarz will have a new look as they start former Fayetteville State player Brad Deshazor at point guard, also back for the team is former Fayetteville State player Mark Jones who has missed the last three games. The Cougarz were able to get Former UNC Penbroke player David Moore back last week and hope to have former Fayetteville State player Zek Mayes back in the line up tonight.
The Cougarz have stayed in the playoff hunt with help from former Methodist University player Billy McDade, Billy has been able to give us 40 minutes a game and has done a great job on both sides of the court. Center Kenkay Jones play in the middle gives the cougarz that strong post player that they lacked in the start of the year. The guard play of former Methodist Player Brian Lane has given the Cougarz more depth of the bench.
Tonight is Military Night, all Military with ID get in for just $3.00, "this will be one of the biggest games of the year says Washington"
